Lilypond: A System for Automated Music Typography

Dr Han-Wen Nienhuys is most famous among the computer music community for his music-typesetting program Lilypond, which translates music written in the form of a script using a text editor into beautiful printed music notation output. It is the most popular underpinning technology for the open distribution of musical text over the internet, and has spawned sites such as the on-line free musical score library, Mutopia.

Paul Davis, one of the world's foremost audio programmers and author of the Digital Audio Workstation software Ardour, will be in Glasgow collaborating with the Animatics team, and will give a short presentation about the issues encountered in writing more ambitious audio software.
