Description

Enhancing UK research in the Musical Signal Processing community through improved communication and collaboration between the members of this community, and with related groups both in UK industry and internationally.

Specifically,

  • to improve communication between Network members, so that members are kept up to date with relevant research activity both within the UK and internationally;
  • To assist in training and development of new researchers in this area;
  • To disseminate the research activity in the Network to potential beneficiaries and external collaborators such as industry and international groups;
  • To develop and implement an exit strategy to maintain the activity of the Network following completion of the 3-year EPSRC funding.

The Network is expected to lead to increased collaborative activity in the field, which will be measurable by increased levels of:

  • joint publications between authors from different groups;
  • collaborative research proposals between network members;
  • research funding awarded for such proposals (indicating high quality of proposals);
  • full- or part-industrially funded projects;
  • international collaborative research projects, such as EU projects;
  • contributions to international standards;
  • representation of the community at international conferences;
  • patent activity and spin-off companies;
  • expressions of interest, measured by e.g. size of mailing list and number of web hits.
