Dr Nicholas Bailey
B.Sc., Ph.D., MIEEE., MACM

Nicholas Bailey graduated from The University of Durham in 1987 with a joint honours degree in Electronics and Computing. After a short time working for British Telecom PLC in its Applied Technology division, he returned to Durham to read for a doctorate "On the Synthesis and Processing of Musical Signals by Highly Parallel Computers" which was awarded in 1991.

After a temporary appointment at Durham, he joined the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at the University of Leeds, where he was responsible for the introduction of their Joint Honours course in Music and Electronic Engineering, and a founder member and Deputy Director of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Scientific Research in Music (ICSRiM).

In 2000 he moved to The University of Glasgow, where he is now a Director of the Centre for Music Technology, an interdisciplinary activity of the Departments of Electronics & Electrical Engineering, Music and Computing Science.
